Given the change of cycle that seems to have been imposed and demands attention, care, accompaniment and listening, at Teatro Central we wish to embody our vision of a public theater anchored in its time and turned towards the future. With the weapons of desire and conviction, we want to build, stone by stone, a season worthy of the period we are living in and its challenges.

Thus, for this 23/24 season we present more than 40 pieces that tell our present in its reality, its complexity and its contradictions, pieces in which women and men are represented equally, offering new generations food for their imagination and tools. to read the world that surrounds them, precedes them or awaits them.

An artistic offer with the aim of becoming a reflection on the challenges that today’s society throws at us regarding the management of diversity. Multiplicity of genders, management of difference, equal treatment, bodies at war against exclusion… all of this makes up the thematic axis that runs through the programmed productions.

Navigating through this season is also doing so with the body as a tool of change.

A program where generations of artists dialogue: the creed that has always driven us and that is fully expressed in this new season. An impulse that responds to the desire to support artists in the long term, to publicize different aspects of their work and monitor their development, something that coexists with the desire to offer the public new faces, new gestures. Creation.

Much of the work we have been doing in our space today depends on proximity. For this reason, during the 23/24 season we want to move forward and increase our commitment to making the Central a place of accessibility, inclusion and representativeness. Commitments that will materialize in projects that link discovery, openness, learning and creation. The Central Theater wants to be a place for everyone.

This document also aims to reinforce our artistic and cultural education. Therefore, during the eight months, and in collaboration with the invited artists, we will offer practical workshops designed for a large number of participants with multiple profiles. A tool to deepen the enrichment and transfer of knowledge between creators from outside our autonomous community and those who produce their experiences in Andalusia. It is about opening a space for young professionals as a means of promoting the enrichment of creators of tomorrow.

In this world of fierce vertigo of «a thousand friends» per second at the click of a button, the truly wonderful thing is that the sum of unique stories that we propose this season, coming from various sources – performers, choreographers, directors, musicians, plastic artists, etc. and its co-creators: the spectators—moments emerge that are capable of lasting. Perhaps that is why the scenic event still has something of a ritual and for this reason it also manages to endure in the face of the tsunami of supports and platforms.
